Cost of therapy: £165 per 75-minute session and follow-up email. Each session is invoiced electronically after completion, payable within 14 days.

Notes: a) The session fee is subject to revision from time to time. Advance notice will be given of any increase. b) The therapist aims to meet the needs of the client in as few sessions as possible. A course of treatment is not charged in advance, only after the completion of a session. c) Payment of each invoice is due within 14 days. Payments that are overdue - those submitted more than 28 days after the invoice is issued - may be subject to statutory interest (8% of the invoice total plus the Bank of England base rate).

Cancellation policy: 48 hours’ notice of cancellation is normally required; otherwise the session fee will be payable in full.

The client’s personal information will be kept in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation legislation on the basis that consent to information about the client being held by the therapist is given. This means that the therapist will:

  • use the client’s contact details only to get in touch with the client about matters relating to their therapy, such as appointments and to provide helpful information, where appropriate, unless explicit consent has been given for the therapist to contact the client for other purposes.

  • retain notes on the client’s treatment for a period of 7 years, in accordance with professional requirements, and will take steps to ensure the security of the record.

  • not share the client’s personal information with other individuals or organisations, except where the therapist has reason to believe the client or others to be at risk, or where there is a legal duty to disclose it, or as otherwise specified, if applicable. (If the last clause is applicable, your therapist will explain it to the client in depth).

  • provide the client with free access to the information they hold about the client, should they so wish.

If you have concerns about the accuracy or management of the client’s personal information, please tell the therapist. If you are not satisfied with their response, you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://ico.org.uk/concerns/). Telephone 0303 123 1113 and/or the Human Givens Institute (see below).

Outcome measures

The client’s therapist may use various measures in order to gauge the client’s response to treatment if the client is happy to do so. The client may be asked to fill out some brief questionnaires before and after therapy sessions. These questionnaires help the therapist to understand the client’s needs, their past and present strengths and how best to help.

The therapist may also utilise the Gottman Relationship Check-up questionnaire to evaluate strengths and improvement points within the relationship.

The client’s personal details and the information from the questionnaires will be treated as strictly confidential and in accordance with the terms of the data protection legislation. With the client’s permission, the anonymised data from the questionnaires may be transferred to a secure database to be used for service evaluation and research.

Signing the ‘Confidentiality Statement’ will be taken to represent the client’s agreement for their anonymised data to be used for service evaluation and data driven research, which preserves the client’s anonymity. The client can withdraw their consent to this at any time by contacting the therapist.

The therapist follows the Human Givens Institute’s Code of Ethics and Conduct. It can be viewed at: www.hgi.org.uk/ethicspolicy.htm. If you or the client would like a paper copy of the policy, please contact the Human Givens Institute.
